WINCHESTER MODEL 70 CUSTOM, 6.5-06. A rare opportunity to acquire a beautiful custom-made hunting rifle based on the legendary Winchester Model 70 action with an exhibition-grade walnut stock. The action is a mid-90s US-made example with controlled round feed. The bolt is wonderfully slick. The trigger release is perfect and light. It has a Shilen barrel. The action is pillar bedded in the sporter stock, and the barrel floated. The walnut has nice grain through it and a warm colour. Rosewood grip cap and fore-end finish it perfectly. The calibre is 6.5-06 Ackley, and the rifle comes with dies and brass (easily formed by necking down .270 cases). With 129gn Hornady SST projectiles, it has a measured velocity of 3150fps and we can supply the reloading data for you. The rifle was professionally built, most work done by local gunsmith Rob Spittles. The rifle is in excellent condition with only a very few tiny marks to show for its minimal use.
